Indian Super League runners up Chennaiyin FC have set their sight on Irish striker Eoin Doyle, if rumours are to be believed. Having failed to reached an extension agreement with Nerijus Valskis’ the Super Machans are rumoured to have identified Doyle as a potential replacement.
A journeyman of sorts, Doyle possesses vast experience of playing in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th tier of English football along with top tier stints in Irish and Scottish leagues. Valued at ₹43.74m, Doyle currently plies his trade for English League Two club Swindon Town in the 4th tier of English Football.
Doyle had signed a permanent deal with Swindon in January 2020, following a successful loan with the club during the first half of the 2019/20 season. A prolific goalscorer, Doyle amassed 25 goals in 28 matches for Swindon.

The 32-year-old had a very successful youth career, representing Republic of Ireland at the U-15 level. He began his youth club career at then Irish champions Shelbourne and was regarded as an exciting prospect.
He holds a unique record of being only the 2nd player this century, after Jamie Vardy, to score in 11 successive league appearances in England's top 4 divisions.
The former ISL champions, Chennaiyin FC, are yet to finalise a coach for the upcoming season but the signing of somebody with the caliber of Doyle will give their fans enough reason to smile. However, it remains to be seen whether Tamil Nadu based side will be in a position to match his contract demands.
